Love is everywhere. It lingers in the silent corner of your dim room, its presence felt rather than heard. It accompanies you in the kitchen where you prepare meals for your loved ones. It rests on the pages of your favorite book that you bend the edge of. It resounds in the metaphorical lyrics of new songs you found out just yesterday. It is in the sweetness of every bite of the cookies you bought. It resides in the palms of your mom’s hands that wrinkling gently with time, and in the giggles of your dad that sounding softer with each passing day.
I used to perceive love as a sacred word that felt too pure to be rashly spoken by a sinner’s lips and seemingly reserved only for the saints. It once seemed like a blessing bestowed only upon the fortunate, where heaven was the only appropriate place for them to belong.
Yet, it is the realization of understanding love was never a matter of grappling to elaborate on the four fierce letters was the one that made sense. Love was never a thousand scattered pieces of a puzzle that led you to go through a sleepless night. Nor was it akin to a mountain you’d have to climb with trembling knees. To perceive it in its simplest sense is not a sin.
Love was never a demanding term to define.
Love awaits just outside your doorstep, eager to greet you with its genuine warmth once you decide to seize the chance. It carries the warmth of the sun that once deemed hard to touch and the tender breeze of morning dew. To spell it out moistens your lips, and to embrace it within your chest is to heal the wounds you’ve never shown.
Love surrounds you, both on the right and the left, and it is as pure as the beating of your heart.
To hope for love to gently knock on your door is not a solemn attempt. It doesn’t require you to endure woes or surrender everything you hold dear. You need not be in desperate craving, for love was never a ruthless vow to ruin those who haven’t yet experienced it in all its richness and tenderness.
Love is a guest that arrives uninvited.
It is the path that leads you to a promising tomorrow and tucked comfortably in the soles of your shoes, carrying you on a journey to see a world that may sometimes seem deceptive, a place you might wish you never had to live in. Yet, there’s solace in the sky above that will only offer shade from the wisps of its clouds, and that is, too, love.
